"The damage of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti still heavily impacts the country and the lives of its people. As a former teacher and education commissioner, I know that providing educational opportunities to the children of Haiti is essential to the reconstruction," said Garry Paulemon, president of the Haitian Students Parents Solidarity Association. "With the help of the CITGO Fueling Good Program, we can extend our outreach to New York and Rhode Island to collect donated school supplies, food and clothing that these children need. We are extremely grateful to CITGO for helping us do even more to help them."

For more than 18 years, the HSPSA has worked with volunteers and teachers to assist with building schools and restoring water and sanitation to the children and communities of Haiti. There are currently more than a million orphans living throughout Haiti in need of food, school supplies and personal items. HSPSA works to ensure 100% of the donations received goes directly to supporting and aiding those in need.

"With so many people in Haiti affected by the earthquake and its aftermath, it is truly inspiring to see the members of the HSPSA do what they can to give back by providing relief aid to the children of Haiti from thousands of miles away," said Gustavo Velasquez, vice president of supply and marketing at CITGO.

Over the past four years, CITGO has donated more than a million miles of good to more than 200 local heroes and non-profit organizations through its Fueling Good program. In the latest campaign, an all-time record of more than 300,000 votes were cast to determine the 12 winning 501(c)(3) organizations.
