TRUMBULL, Conn., Oct. 29, 2014 /3BL Media/ – CITGO Marketer Consumers Petroleum and its Wheels Convenience Stores have added two CITGO-branded locations in Southwestern and Central Connecticut. The first is located at 592 Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury, Conn. and the second is now open at 786 Post Road East in Westport, Conn. The Glastonbury location also held a Customer Appreciation event to meet the community, where consumers enjoyed special pricing on fuel and refreshments and could win giveaways including CITGO Gift Cards.

“With the new Wheels CITGO locations in Glastonbury and Westport, we want to provide consumer-friendly, quality gas stations and convenience stores,” said Consumers Petroleum President Christine Hogan. “At Consumers Petroleum and Wheels Convenience Stores, we hope to create lasting relationships with consumers. Without our customers, we wouldn’t be in business. That is why we strive to ensure that we give them the products and services they want. And we want them to know we appreciate their business.”

The newly branded CITGO locations also bring fresh life into the two markets. The Westport space marks the reopening of a gas station that closed in 2013 after being a family-owned business for 80 years. Since Consumers Petroleum is also a family-owned business, with owner Rich Wiehl representing the third generation of entrepreneurs, this legacy was important.

Because of its own history, Consumers, along with Wheels and CITGO, try to support other area businesses and entrepreneurs, like local snack food company Nothin’ But Foods, founded by Westport’s Jerri Graham and Steven Laitmon. The Westport Wheels CITGO offers Nothin’ But Foods products among its other convenience store items, and invites the community out for a sampling at the Westport station on Nov. 7, 2014. The brand was first sold through local cafes, farmer’s markets, and gyms. Now it will reach a larger audience through the partnership with Consumers Petroleum and Wheels CITGO.

“CITGO and our network of Marketers and Retailers support social investment and look to improve their services and implement programs that will benefit their surrounding communities,” added Alan Flagg, Assistant Vice President of Supply and Marketing at CITGO. “We are proud to see Consumers Petroleum and Wheels Convenience Stores adding CITGO locations in Connecticut, while at the same time finding ways to strengthen ties through Customer Appreciation Events and local product offerings, such as Nothin’ But Foods’ healthy snacks.”

Founded in 1936, Consumers Petroleum is a third-generation family-owned and operated gasoline distributorship that sells branded gasoline to customers in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Upholding its motto, “We care where you go,” the company prides itself on unmatched customer service and quality product assurance.

CITGO is committed to giving back to the local communities it serves through its network of locally owned CITGO locations. Local CITGO Marketers, such as Consumers Petroleum, own and operate approximately 175 locations in Connecticut and are proud to support their neighborhoods and local organizations.

Based in Houston, CITGO is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
