The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group has joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, a collaboration between the EPA and business to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. DPS will contribute to the Partnership’s goal to reduce 33 to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012. DPS’s SmartWay effort covers the transportation of its beverages by its own delivery truck fleet as well as third-party carriers of shipments of concentrates and raw materials to bottling plants.
VolunteerMatch has launched a joint Web site with the NFL Play 60 program. At the site, listings will connect volunteers to NFL programs such as NFL FLAG football; Girls’ Flag Football; NFL Punt, Pass & Kick; and PLAY 60 Challenge, as well as offering tips from NFL players. VolunteerMatch’s national network lists more than 75,000 nonprofits that offer volunteer opportunities for specific campaigns and community efforts.
