The Dell Social Innovation Challenge Grand Prize of $50,000 has been won by Essmart Global. The winning project, chosen from proposals from five teams of undergraduate and graduate students, helps shop owners in rural India source and distribute life-changing technologies. The Dell Challenge encourages social innovation ideas that help communities around the world.
AmeriCares has presented its annual Power of Partnership Award to GlaxoSmithKline. The award recognizes the company’s commitment to aiding disaster survivors and increasing access to health care around the world. GSK supports AmeriCares with donated medicines, including a “Product to Give” program that allows the aid organization to select $4 million worth of health care products for people in the developing world.
The Toronto Sustainability Speaker Series will host a launch party and workshop for Bob Willard’s latest book, The New Sustainability Advantage, in Toronto tomorrow. Attendees will participate in an interactive workshop on how to build and sell a compelling business case for more proactive sustainability strategies.
