Deloitte Recognized as One of the Most Community-Minded Private-Sector Organizations in the Country by Points of Light
DETROIT, June 30, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Deloitte was recognized as one of the most community-minded private-sector organizations in the nation as a part of the Civic 50, a Points of Light initiative that sets the standard for corporate civic engagement and helps create a roadmap for private-sector organizations seeking to best use their time, talent and resources to help improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business. Civic 50 winners were announced earlier this week at Points of Light’s Conference on Volunteering and Service in Detroit, where leaders in volunteerism and civic engagement gathered to discuss how social innovation, cross-sector collaboration and citizen engagement can drive change.
“At Deloitte, we have a culture of purpose and are committed to using our knowledge, skills and experience to make a difference in our communities,” said David Williams, managing principal, Deloitte LLP. “We’re honored to be recognized for that as a part of the Civic 50,” added Williams, who chairs Points of Light’s Corporate Service Council, a group of 75 of the world’s largest private-sector organizations that support corporate philanthropy and volunteering.
Deloitte’s recognition as a part of the Civic 50 comes on the heels of its annual Impact Day, a national day of service that celebrates a year-round commitment to making an impact that matters in the communities where Deloitte professionals work and live. This year, tens of thousands of professionals spent a collective 189,000 hours volunteering at more than 1,000 events in more than 80 communities across the United States. Deloitte also encourages its professionals to participate in year-round community involvement efforts through pro-bono work—contributing 81,000 client service hours per year through more than 200 pro-bono projects—and other skills-based volunteerism, board membership and a workplace giving program.
The Civic 50 survey to select the 2016 Civic 50 was administered by True Impact, a company specializing in helping organizations maximize and measure their social and business value, and developed in partnership with a high-profile working group of researchers and industry thought leaders.
“Since 2012, we have seen a notable shift in the results from the survey in a direction that speaks to the commitment of American private-sector organizations to connect values of community service and civic engagement to the culture and operating practices of their business,” said Jennifer Lawson, executive director of the Corporate Institute at Points of Light.
This year’s Civic 50 applicants were evaluated based on four dimensions: investment, integration, institutionalization and impact.
