Dole’s Dale Foundation has won the Segundo Wong Award for outstanding work in pursuit of community goals. The Foundation is responsible for Dole’s Ecuadorian and Peruvian social responsibility efforts, which range from building schools to HIV/AIDS prevention programs.
Union Pacific has published its 2011 Sustainability and Citizenship Report. Among the highlights: the company’s receipt of the EPA’s Clean Air Excellence Award; the purchase of 100 new fuel-efficient locomotives; and the recycling of more than four million gallons of used fuel and oil, and 250,000 tons of metal.
The Aspen Institute Business and Society Program has announced the fourth class of its First Mover Fellows, individuals who work within companies to integrate business growth with a sustainable society. 21 new Fellows have been chosen from a variety of industries, including the finance, energy, retail, technology, and advertising sectors.
