WILMINGTON, Del., November 20, 2015 /3BL Media/ – DuPont is pleased to announce that Dawn Rittenhouse, director of sustainable growth, has been awarded one of Green Building & Design’s (gb&d) Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards. gb&d, the magazine for today’s leading green professional with a mission statement of creating a more sustainable world, created the awards to celebrate the achievements of women who are making lasting change and strive to identify, support and give opportunities to future women in leadership.

“The ultimate goal of the awards is to create a global central hub that identifies and advances top-level female sustainability executives who can then, in turn, support younger women with dreams of reaching such levels of success,” said Chris Howe, publisher and CEO of gb&d. “We hope this can be a platform for women who are creating lasting change to act as role models for those who might just be starting their career,” added Laura Heidenreich, the magazine’s president and associate publisher.

“Throughout her career, Dawn has been an innovator and pioneer who has earned the respect of her peers within the sustainability field,” said Linda J. Fisher, vice president of safety health and environment and chief sustainability officer. “Beginning with our first set of footprint goals set in 1989 to our most recent goals announced earlier this week embedding sustainability into our innovation process, Dawn has worked to make DuPont a leader in sustainability -- both in how we run our operations and in our product portfolio. She is a true change maker and I believe no one better exemplifies all that this recognition represents.”

The winners were selected by a judging panel that includes Rochelle Routman of Mohawk Industries (and the chair of the WSLA Alumni Group), Kimberly Lewis of the USGBC, Charmaine Atherton of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Chris Howe and Laura Heidenreich of Green Building & Design. The 20 winners were honored at an event Nov. 19, 2016, at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Washington, D.C.
