Sept. 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Local CITGO Marketer Flash Market Inc. and CITGO Petroleum Corporation are teaming up to sponsor the tenth annual Passport to a Cure event to benefit the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). On Dec. 4, guests are invited to participate in a reception, silent and live auctions and an “I Love NY”-themed dinner. The proceeds raised will support local clinics, care programs and support groups for children and adults coping with neuromuscular diseases and will send area children to the MDA summer camp.

"We love hosting this annual event and are excited about this year’s theme of ‘I Love NY’," said Faith Gonzales, director of business development at the MDA. "We owe the event’s success to our generous sponsors who offer so much support for this wonderful occasion. We invite any organization interested in becoming a part of this tradition to review the sponsorship program and join our MDA family. We have exciting prize packages to show our attendees how much we value their commitment to the MDA and look forward to an exciting event this September.”

Groups including Flash Market, Inc., CITGO Petroleum Corporation, and the Miss Arkansas Organization have signed on to sponsor the event. The auctions will feature a variety of items, including jewelry, trips, sports tickets and memorabilia and a chance to create a lifetime of memories by sending a child to MDA summer camp. The Passport to a Cure event will also include an art auction featuring artwork from patients suffering from neuromuscular diseases and MDA campers.

“We are always looking for ways to help the local community,” said Kevin Waller, operations manager at Flash Market. “The MDA is an organization with a wonderful mission. We are proud to be a part of this event and hope to offer our support for years to come.”
