Foodie Registry Announces First-Ever Gift and Charitable Donation Wedding Registry
(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) Chicago, IL - May 13, 2011 - Foodie Registry (http://www.FoodieRegistry.com), an innovative website where wedding couples can create a gift registry for restaurant gift certificates, now offers users the ability to register for select food and hunger-related charitable donations alongside their gift certificate options.
Initial non-profit partners featured on the site include the New York City Coalition Against Hunger (New York), God’s Love We Deliver (New York), Citymeals-on-Wheels (New York), Greater Chicago Food Depository (Chicago), Green City Market (Chicago), and Food Bank of the Rockies (Denver).
The initiative is called “Foodies Feed”, and is a direct response to the desire of many modern couples to insert charitable donations or other social do-gooding into their weddings. While there are standalone charitable gift registries already available, Foodie Registry is the first registry to provide users a blend of gift and donation options.
“So many couples make giving a part of their wedding these days in many different ways, but to date the only way to make a registry with donations on it is to make a standalone charity registry” says Foodie Registry cofounder Jennifer Reid. “While that’s a good option for many, we think we can make giving even easier for couples by making donations an option on a non-charity registry that they might already be using. Including this in our offering also reflects Foodie Registry’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which we operate.”
Foodie Registry utilizes the donation processing platform of a software company called Benevity Social Ventures, Inc. (http://www.benevity.org) to make Foodies Feed possible. Benevity’s technology is helping change the corporate and philanthropic landscape by empowering for-profit companies like Foodie Registry to be able to integrate user-directed charitable donations and corporate matching programs into their everyday operations and websites without having to build and administer the functionality themselves or send people to another website.
“As Foodie Registry grows, so will our ability to help people give back through Foodies Feed” says Ms. Reid, “We’re excited about the prospect of adding to the scope and impact of the program going forward.”
About Foodie Registry
Foodie Registry was founded in 2010 and operates an innovative online wedding registry for restaurant gift certificates. The company was created after Jennifer and Ben Reid were pressured to register for things for their own wedding that they didn’t need or want and, in a fit of inspiration and rebellion, instead sent out a list of restaurants they loved or wanted to try. The list was a smashing success, Jennifer and Ben had “Friday night date-nights” for months, guests were excited to give the newlyweds a romantic meal out together as opposed to something that gathered dust on a shelf, and Foodie Registry was born.
