(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) June 10, 2011 - Giving to international causes is the fastest-growing area of interest for donors, according to the study released today from Global Impact, whose mission is to assure help for the world’s most vulnerable people. Moving Beyond Boundaries reports that U.S.-based corporations and donors are increasingly generous in their international contributions to help people in need, even in the midst of current economic climate.

“The generosity of Americans never ceases to amaze and impress me,” states Renée S. Acosta, President & CEO of Global Impact.  “Despite the challenges faced at home, individuals and corporations are stretching themselves to improve the lives of others and most impressively, help those they may never meet.”

Key statistics cited include:

* 6.2% increase in giving to international causes over the previous year,

* 10.4% average annual growth rate for giving to international causes since 1987,

* 22% of American households make donations to international charities, and

* 37% of major U.S. companies plan to increase their funding focus on international issues and causes.

The report also states that companies express greater interest in giving to international organizations that help the people in the regions where they have operations. The number of organizations that establish partnerships with Global Impact increases year over year including partnerships with companies that include JPMorgan Chase, Thomson Reuters, TIAA-CREF, Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Wells Fargo, United Health Group and United Airlines.
