CAYUGA, Ind., November 20, 2020 /3BL Media/– The International Paper Newport Mill has awarded the North Vermillion Community School Corporation a $50,000 capital campaign grant from the International Paper Foundation. Distributed over a two-year period, grant funding will help the school corporation build an agriculture greenhouse.

“I want to thank International Paper for the community support and investing in education,” said Dan Nelson, North Vermillion Superintendent. “The grant to fund the North Vermillion Greenhouse will be invaluable to student learning. The greenhouse will provide hands-on learning with plant growth and development, and will not only service our agricultural students, but will be a valuable asset to our elementary students and community members as well.”

The International Paper Newport Mill has a strong connection to the North Vermillion School Corporation, as nearly 80 percent of its workforce either attended the schools or have children or grandchildren who have attended or currently attend the schools. The mill previously awarded the North Vermillion Community School Corporation an $8,000 grant in 2019 to fund an Innovation Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Lab at North Vermillion Elementary School.
