December 13, 2016 /3BL Media/ - More than 14,000 people were forced from their homes as a result of the recent Tennessee wildfires. While the flames have come to a halt, they have left boundless destruction in their wake.

“During the height of this crisis, a local news station ran a ribbon at the bottom of their broadcast highlighting what the Red Cross needed,” said Ted Banker, Director, Global Business Services. “Diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, bath tissue, feminine care products, etc. It was like they were doing a rundown of our product line!  We tend to take these essentials for granted, but in emergency situations like this, they go from being daily conveniences to absolute necessities.”

After hearing that help was needed nearby, Alisa Hunt and 20 Kimberly-Clark employees at our Knoxville, Tennessee facility quickly gathered more than 2,000 products to donate to those affected by the fires. The Knoxville team rented a truck and stuffed it full of Huggies diapers and baby wipes, Pull-Ups, Viva paper towels, Scott bath tissue, U by Kotex and Depend products. Employees then drove an hour to deliver these much needed essentials to relief volunteers in Kodak, Tennessee.

“The fires have been hard on everyone in our community, and we appreciate the responsibility we have to support the well-being of the communities where we operate,” said Alisa Hunt, Benefits Director. “Delivering these products was a very emotional experience for our team and for the relief workers, and I am proud that we were able to respond.”
