Life Cycle Approach to Sustainability: Responsibility from Cradle to Grave Webinar
Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 1:00 - 2:00pm EST

The sustainability wave has given rise to a deeper understanding of the implications of unsustainable business practices, creating a new breed of consumers who demand products that have less impact on the planet. The Life Cycle Approach (LCA) provides a comparison of environmental and social damages assignable to a product. It provides a holistic assessment, considering the impacts of a product from cradle to grave, to enable manufacturers to optimize environmental and social performance.

This webinar focuses on what LCA entails and will discuss best practices, challenges, and compelling factors for adopting it. The LCA landscape in Canada will also be highlighted with industry leaders sharing experiences and insights on how LCA has progressed and can benefit their business.

Participants will:

  • Learn what LCA entails – sustainable raw materials, sustainable production, sustainable distribution, sustainable consumption, and sustainable disposal.

  • Hear the history and landscape of LCA in Canada.

  • Learn about LCA in practice - hear insights from industry leaders in Life Cycle Approach work.

Speakers:

Tara Leitan, CSR Advisor, CBSR
Nadine Gudz, Director, Sustainable Strategy, InterfaceFLOR Canada
