July 30, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Mars, Incorporated announced today that is has been shortlisted within the “Best Private Company” and “Best B2B (Business to Business) Partnership” categories for the Mesquite Creek wind farm in the U.S.

This marks the second consecutive year that Mars has been recognized for its approach to business at these awards, picking up the “Best Private Company” accolade last year. This was to acknowledge the company’s commitment to making a difference to people, pets and the planet.

The “Best Private Company” shortlist this year recognizes Mars’ efforts in three key areas:

  • Mars’ ongoing Sustainable in a Generation commitment to achieving carbon neutral operations through its investment in the Mesquite Creek wind farm, that will produce enough renewable energy equal to all the electricity use of Mars’ US operations.
  • Mars’ ongoing efforts towards sustainable sourcing through the establishment of its new deforestation policy released earlier this year.
  • Mars’ ongoing commitment towards 100% certified cocoa by 2020 and the establishment of Cocoa Development Centers in West Africa, providing farmers with 100% the tools, techniques and training to cultivate high-quality yields.

The winners will be announced at the Ethical Corporation awards dinner ceremony, which is taking place on September 29 in central London.
