Campaign: MetLife Foundation

New York, NY, May 8, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Ahead of Mother’s Day, MetLife is inviting social media users to say thank you to their moms through a poem, or #Moem, posted on Facebook or Twitter.  A #Moem is defined as a tribute poem to mom, preferably rhyming, that is 110 characters or less, and MetLife has even created a Facebook application called the #Moem Maker to help users get their creative juices flowing.

For every unique #Moem posted, MetLife Foundation will make a $10 donation to the Dress for Success Financial Literacy Program up to $50,000.  This national educational program is designed to help low-income women learn how to eliminate debt, manage their assets, invest wisely, and prepare for retirement.

“We wanted to create a new, unique way for people to celebrate their moms on Mother’s Day,” said Amir Weiss, head of Digital Marketing at MetLife.  “At the same time, we also wanted to do something to help women across the country and further the Foundation’s mission of global financial capability.  The #Moem campaign allows us to achieve all these goals and underscores MetLife’s commitment to helping women succeed.”

“We’re grateful to MetLife Foundation for its generous donation to our Financial Literacy Program, and look forward to putting these dollars to work to help disadvantaged women achieve economic independence,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide.  “Those who participate in the #Moem campaign aren’t just doing something for their mom on Mother’s Day—they’re doing something for moms nationwide.”

MetLife and MetLife Foundation have a long tradition of supporting women and helping them succeed in the workplace.  MetLife Foundation’s support of global organizations like Women’s World Banking has resulted in many low-income women gaining access to financial tools and services to help them succeed as entrepreneurs.  For the past 7 years, MetLife has been the premier sponsor of the LPGA® Golf Clinics for Women, which help women learn how to use the sport to build better business relationships and raise money to fight breast cancer.  The company has launched Women’s Business Networks for its employees in 19 countries and has been named one of Working Mother® magazine’s 100 best companies for 15 years in a row.
