MetLife Receives 2015 Military Friendly® Employer Designation

November 13, 2014 /3BL Media/ - MetLife has been recognized as a 2015 Military Friendly® Employer by G.I. Jobs magazine for the third consecutive year.

“MetLife has a long-standing commitment to both active and former military personnel and we are proud to be recognized for standing with those who sacrifice so much to preserve our freedom,” said Elizabeth Nieto, MetLife’s global chief diversity and inclusion officer.

Criteria for the designation are based on a company’s long-term commitment to hiring former military personnel; recruiting and hiring efforts and results; policies for Reserve/Guard members called to active duty; and the presence of special military recruitment programs.

MetLife has strong roots in veterans’ initiatives. The company provides veteran-to-veteran mentorship initiatives as well as career support and opportunities for military spouses. During deployment, veteran employees can expect continuation of many benefits and guaranteed job reinstatement or transition into a similar position upon return up to five years.

MetLife Veterans Network (MVET) is an employee-founded and employee-run resource group open to all colleagues who are passionate about advocating for veterans. Members donate their time to promote the goal of attracting and retaining military veterans at MetLife, as well as building a working culture that values veterans and their contributions.

Together with MVET, MetLife launched a mentor program in November, 2013 with American Corporate Partners, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting veterans in their transition from the armed services to the civilian workforce, which pairs senior-level associates with veterans based on career objectives and professional experience.

Each year, companies competing for the Military Friendly® designation are held to a higher standard than the previous year through improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of Advisory Boards consisting of industry experts from across the country.
