August 3, 2020 /3BL Media/ - GRI is continuing a global search to find new members for two of its main decision making and advisory functions. An open call has been launched for nominations to join:

  • The Stakeholder Council: the multi-stakeholder forum that advises the Board on strategic issues and business planning. Additional representation is required from the investment institutions constituency.

GRI encourages all stakeholders worldwide to review the opportunities to get involved and spread the word as widely as possible. The nomination period is open until 16 August.

Eric Hespenheide, Chairman of the Board, said:

“The strength and legitimacy of GRI stems from our independent and multi-stakeholder foundations. This is what sets us apart and enables us to deliver world-leading sustainability standards, which help thousands of organizations to disclose their impacts and demonstrate their accountability to people and the planet.

We absolutely value diversity of experience, backgrounds and roles being reflected through our governance. Therefore, I would encourage people who are passionate about sustainability and corporate transparency to consider applying – and help us deliver on our mission to ensure a more sustainable world.”

This additional open call follows an exercise earlier this year to fill vacancies on the Global Sustainability Standards Board and the Independent Oversight Committee. The new members for all four bodies will be confirmed by December.

GRI’s governance seeks representation across five constituency groups: busines enterprise, investment institutions, labor organizations, mediation institutions, and civil society. The current vacancies to join the Stakeholder Council are open to representatives from investment institutions.

All appointments are on a voluntary basis for a three-year term, starting from 1 January 2020. View the above links for the remit, expectations, responsibilities and time commitment involved, as well as details of the nomination process and how to apply.
