The report covers progress and activities during the 2011 calendar year and describes the company’s ongoing efforts to further its corporate responsibility initiatives in the areas of Environmental Stewardship, Ethics and Compliance, Governance, Health and Safety, Communities and Giving, and People and Culture.

2011 Highlights include:

  • Developed a four-year, $1-million academic and scientific environmental research program, called the Real Green Research Challenge
  • Conducted its first global employee survey on ethics and compliance, demonstrating its favorable ethical climate, with measurably less misconduct than benchmark companies
  • Began to engage more fully in public policy matters related to commercial real estate and to develop a human rights policy
  • Demonstrated the quality of its long-standing succession planning process at all levels of the organization, particularly its CEO transition
  • Outperformed peer companies in its health and safety incidence rate, which is more than three times lower than the industry average
  • Donated volunteer hours and funds to more than 330 different charitable organizations
  • Gave $6.4 million to charities - reflecting company and employee giving - matching the record CBRE set in 2010
  • Responded to natural disasters in Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand with contributions and support for  impacted communities
  • Earned a place on the "Companies That Care Honor Roll" in early 2012 for the fifth consecutive year
  • Reintroduced CBRE University and trained more than 200 attendees as part of the U.S. implementation of its talent management strategy
