Toilet Board Coalition Announces Kimberly-Clark’s Mauricio Troncoso as New Chairman

September 16, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The Toilet Board Coalition (TBC), the world’s first business-led accelerator for market-based sanitation solutions, has appointed Mauricio Troncoso of Kimberly-Clark Corporation as chairman, and has named 3 new board members and one new non-executive director.  Mr. Troncoso has been elected by the TBC board for a two-year term commencing 1 September, 2016.

The Toilet Board Coalition is a business led public-private partnership.  Its members are multinational corporations, development expert NGOs / IGOs and social investors – all sharing a joint vision and mission to support and accelerate commercially sustainable business models dedicated to building smart, sustainable sanitation systems for the future while delivering sanitation to all.  

Mr. Troncoso has served as a member of the TBC board since its inception in 2014 as non-executive director and vice-chairman. In that capacity, he fostered Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s mentorship of emerging market business entrepreneurs in the TBC’s 1st Toilet Accelerator Cohort.  Mr. Troncoso currently serves as Kimberly-Clark’s vice president and managing director for Western Europe.  He began his involvement with the TBC as leader for the company’s Family Care sector, and has passionately worked to deliver the coalition’s vision of catalysing a robust business sector to deliver universal access to sanitation through his work at Kimberly-Clark.

Speaking after his appointment as chairman, Mr. Troncoso said, I am a firm believer in the mission and purpose of the TBC. As someone who has been involved in the TBC since its inception, I’ve witnessed the organisation move from bringing experts together to talk, to joining experts together to work and get things done. We are now applying business processes to enable entrepreneurs the ability to provide sustainable access to a proper toilet to thousands of people. I’m honoured to be invited to serve as chairman to aid in the continued journey.” 

Additionally, the Toilet Board Coalition is pleased to announce the following board member appointments effective 1 September, 2016:  Charlie Beevor, global vice-president Household Cleaning brands at Unilever has been appointed to TBC non-executive director and vice-chairman.  He joins John Stone of the Stone Family Foundation as the TBC’s vice-chairmen.  Jenny Lewis, vice-president at Kimberly-Clark Foundation; Rohit Pathak, global brand director, Domestos at Unilever; and Katy Sill, Water & Sanitation advisor at USAID have been appointed to the TBC’s Steering Committee, and join Paul Gunstensen of the Stone Family Foundation; Jon Lane (independent director); Neil Macleod (independent director); Bérangère Magarinos-Ruchat of Firmenich Corporation; Jim McHale of Lixil Corporation; Perry Rivera (independent director); Lu Shen of Asian Development Bank; and Andrew Taylor of Grand Challenges Canada on the TBC board.
