Stettler, Alberta, October 18, 2013 /3BL Media/ – TransCanada has donated $10,000 to the Town of Settler in support of a tree planting initiative on the grounds of the Stettler Sports Park.

“Planting these trees will offer park goers shade, increase the overall aesthetics of the park and enhance the experience of community members while enjoying the space,” says Lee Penner, director of parks and leisure services for the Town of Stettler. “We are thrilled that TransCanada provided funds towards this initiative.”

A member of the Stettler business community, TransCanada has been operating in the area for over 50 years and employs 15 residents. TransCanada has also previously donated funds to purchase new bleachers for the Stettler Sports Park.

“TransCanada support projects that ensure the safety of the communities where we operate, build vibrant communities and protect the environment,” says Terri Steeves, director of field operations for the Rocky Mountain region at TransCanada. “This initiative was a good fit for TransCanada since it provided an opportunity for community members to work together towards an environmental initiative.”
