Program Can Help Companies Streamline Audits and Comply with EU Directive on Conflict Minerals

ALEXANDRIA, Va., November 30, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI), a coalition of leading companies dedicated to improving the security and human rights conditions in their raw materials supply chains, today announced its Downstream Audit is now available to companies within the tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold (3TG) supply chains that are downstream of smelters and refiners and are not eligible to participate in the Conflict-Free Smelter Program (CFSP).
In a recent decision, the European Union reported it reached an agreement concerning how it will regulate conflict minerals. The new guidelines set forth will require that companies who are involved in the importing of tin, tungsten, tantalum and gold (3TG)) perform their due diligence to ensure that the minerals they purchase are not from conflict/high-risk sources.
The EICC and CFSI Launch the Multi-Industry Responsible Raw Materials Initiative (RRMI)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., November 15, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI) today announced the launch of the Responsible Raw Materials Initiative (RRMI) to address the most significant social and environmental impacts related to the extraction and processing of raw materials used in the global supply chains of technology companies in multiple industries.
On March 1st, 2016, The University of Edinburgh adopted a policy aimed at cutting conflict minerals from their supply chain. Edinburgh has become the first university in the UK to develop a program aimed at mitigating the risk of conflict minerals in their supply chain.
