At the launch of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)'s new 'GreenUp' initiative, conceived to bring the Green Economy closer to Europeans, fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood unveiled a Tree-shirt to raise funds for re-connecting Europe's forests. The shirts  were donated by the Anvil Eco T-Shirt Collection- and each shirt includes a Shirt Scan- Code with additional information on the GreenUp programme.

Anvil's presence at Farm Aid 2011 was focused on three activities:

  • Educating kids with TrackMyT® on where their organic cotton t-shirts are grown and made;

  • Introducing organic cotton farmers like the Voglers and Mortons from Texas who produce organic cotton for Anvil products and who were available to answer questions about organic farming; and

  • Educating consumers with Anvil's "Message From Earth" digital short about the impact of pesticide use on the environment and farmers, and encourage consumers to support organic farmers

The final winners will be announced at the Ceres Annual Conference on May 11-12th in Oakland, Calif.
