More than 60 Avista employees volunteered for the Spokane County United Way Day of Action in Spokane on Sept. 15 to Make a Meal for Many. Together, with 600 participants from around the community, they packaged 140,000 meals.
September 6, 2017 /3BL Media/ - The Scott and Liz Morris Employee Engagement Fund is being established through a $1 million pledge by the couple to the Avista Foundation to recognize and encourage Avista employee contributions to communities in which they live and work. The pledge will be fulfilled upon the successful completion of Avista’s merger with Hydro One.
Edison Electric Institute (EEI) award recognizes excellence in service to national leading chain store and multi-site companies
April 17, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Avista recently received the Edison Electric Institute’s 2017 National Key Accounts Award for Outstanding Customer Service. The award is given to electric companies that provide superior service to national, multi-site energy customers. Avista was one of only eight recipients chosen by customers in a nationwide open-ballet process. Ann Carey, Avista national account executive, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
This fall, Avista partnered with The Lands Council to plant trees for the 6th Annual Reforest Spokane Day. Over 400 volunteers planted 2,500 trees and native shrubs in west Spokane, downtown and along the Centennial Trail and Spokane River. Avista is proud to partner with The Lands Council on this wonderful community event and engage the community while enhancing the health of our natural resources.
Recently, Avista collaborated with Spokane, Wash. news station, KREM 2, and Inland Empire Toyota to educate customers about energy efficiency. The “Efficiency Matters” promotion included a contest where one lucky person could win a new, energy-efficient 2016 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. During the seven-week contest (April 18-June 5), viewers could watch any KREM 2 newscast for the energy efficiency keyword and submit it online to enter for a chance to win. Other social media options were also offered to find bonus keywords.
A dedicated group of Avista employees and families supported March of Dimes in the March for Babies in Spokane, Wash on April 26, 2015. As the top fundraising group, team Avista raised $40,000 for healthy babies.
Avista was recently recognized by the National Hydropower Association with an OSAW Award for being an Outstanding Steward of America's Waters. With a focus on recreational, environmental and historical enhancement, the award was for the renovation and revitalization of Avista’s Huntington Park in Spokane.
Avista recently completed upgrades to our Post Falls South Channel Dam, in Post Falls, Idaho. Constructed in 1906, the dam has been completely upgraded and refurbished over the last two years. Today, the dam has six new spill gates, frames and hoists, along with a new spillway control system, electrical distribution equipment, and concrete facing.
With work completed, the historic structure will continue its role in generating clean, low-cost renewable energy and providing summer recreational opportunities and spring flood control on Coeur d’Alene Lake, for another 100 years.
Recently, one of Avista’s Operations Managers received an award for providing exceptional support for employees who serve in the military. This recognition speaks to Avista’s company-wide commitment to supporting military service and the organization’s culture and environment that is based on integrity and respect.
