SULPHUR, La., September 29, 2016 /3BL Media/ – CITGO Lake Charles employees recently donated 390 school uniform items to CITGO Partner in Education, E.K. Key Elementary School during the annual CITGO Back-to-School Uniform Drive. The uniform drive is coordinated by the CITGO Safety Directors and is part of the CITGO Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to support education by providing structure and guidance to students as they pursue academic excellence.

As the new school year begins across the country, it’s hard not to reminisce about the questions I always had in the back of my mind at the beginning of a new school year. They ranged from the immediate and critical: Will I fall from these platform shoes? What wasSaturday Night Fever really trying to tell me? To the really-important-but-abstract: How do I study for the SAT? What is the college application process like? Am I prepared to compete academically with the other students?
These free educational materials are the perfect way to get kids ready for back to school season.

As summer draws to an end it can be a challenge to get kids excited to head back to school. Boeing’s 100 Days of Learning content is the perfect way to get kids ready to jump back into the classroom. With hands-on activities that will get kids thinking creatively while building rocket ships and airplane wings from everyday household materials, preparing to strap on a backpack and hit the books has never been more thrilling.
Ally Financial teamed up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan to send Detroit students back to school with the essentials this year. Ally volunteers packed and distributed backpacks full of school supplies to 600 students at the Boys and Girls Clubs’ annual Be Fit for School event and donated 50 books on financial literacy concepts to the Boys and Girls Clubs’ library. Ally also sponsored the new Backpack Café program, which will help students facing food insecurity to take a backpack of food home with them each weekend.
Republic Services of Sacramento, the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership and the City of Rancho Cordova came together for Reuse Roundup, a school supply drive that aims to collect reusable school supplies from local schools at the end of the school year that would otherwise end up in our landfills.
This was the second year of Reuse Roundup, and with the help of the six participating schools, over 900 pounds of reusable school supplies were collected.
With summer ending and kids back to school, it’s hard enough getting your children out of bed each morning and into routine, not to mention the daily chore of making their lunches. It sounds simple, but this can be a daunting task: how to keep it healthy, interesting, tasty, and eco-friendly?

Today in Durham NC, over 150 GSK volunteers handed out backpacks filled with school supplies to children at the Durham Rescue Mission’s 16th annual Back to School Party. GSK donates the supplies (over 3000 backpacks!) and helps at the event as a contribution to the health of the community where we are proud to live and work. The goal is to get kids excited about going back to school and getting a good start on the new school year.
