April 27, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Every year, Southwest celebrates Earth Day in a variety of ways—recycling cans inflight, participating in clean-up projects in our communities, and planting new spring trees and flowers at home. This year, in honor of Earth Day, we are proud to announce that the Southwest Heart of the Community Program is growing again! Since our launch in 2014, Southwest has helped communities create and activate new outdoor public spaces in Detroit, Providence, and San Antonio, with additional projects underway in Chicago and Houston.
This April, Rebuilding Together Baltimore will provide critical repairs to 20 homes with the help of over 500 volunteers on National Rebuilding Day, April 25. Volunteers will be working in two target neighborhoods- Woodbourne-McCabe and North Point Village.
Partnership With National Recreation and Park Association to Enhance Youth Sports Programs in Baltimore and Serve More Youth in the Community
October 6, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Baltimore Chevrolet Dealers have partnered with CBS EcoMedia through its WellnessAd program to support Youth Sports Programs in Greater Baltimore through partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association. Funding will support the distribution of much-needed new uniforms and sports equipment to programs in Hartford, Howard and Cecil Counties, and Baltimore City. The programs aim to engage youth in after-school activities and empower them to build and hone the values and skills they need to achieve positive outcomes.
In the spring, the Darden Foundation and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) announced fifteen communities that were awarded a Grow Your Park grant. The primary goal of these grants is to benefit low-income families through the donation of locally grown fruits and vegetables. One of the grant recipients, Baltimore City Recreation and Parks (BCRP), recently held an event to celebrate and debut one of its community gardens that is having meaningful impact on the community.
