BNSF Railway’s Logistics Parks Kansas City (LPKC) Intermodal Facility opened last month featuring state-of-the-art energy and environmental technology including five all-electric wide-span cranes. LPKC, along with two other BNSF intermodal facilities, utilizes wide-span electric cranes as a means of efficiently handling containers while reducing on-site emissions.
BNSF, in partnership with Nascent Technologies, has implemented automated gates at nine intermodal facilities across its network. Automated Gate System (AGS) technology expedites shipment speed, maximizes security, enhances safety and reduces carbon emissions.
FORT WORTH, Texas, October 17, 2013 /3BL Media/ — BNSF Railway today introduced its new Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC) Intermodal Facility in Edgerton, Kan., to customers, business and elected officials during the facility’s grand opening ceremony. LPKC is a more than 1,550-acre master-planned distribution and warehouse development anchored by BNSF’s newest intermodal facility, the third such facility to anchor a Logistics Park on BNSF’s network.
Columbus Zoo Director Emeritus and celebrity TV personality Jack Hanna and his wife Suzi along with the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Foundation, BNSF Railway and the Great Northern Environmental Stewardship Area recently hosted a charity train ride to raise funds to support the grizzly bear management efforts in Montana.
BNSF Railway, Montana Lieutenant Governor John Walsh and the City of Whitefish recently recognized the completion of the Whitefish River cleanup project with a public ceremony and dedication of a new public river access.
“Public access to our pristine rivers and natural lands is a value all Montanans share. The park is also great for the community’s economy with its direct access to the city center,” said Lt. Governor Walsh. “I want to recognize the support of BNSF Railway, the City of Whitefish and everyone who worked to help clean up the Whitefish River.”
BNSF Railway was recently listed among Inbound Logistics magazine's top 75 "Green Supply Chain Partners" for this year. The magazine recognized BNSF’s for its plans to test the use of natural gas as fuel in locomotives.
BNSF was recently presented with a copy of a proclamation by the Governor of Kansas in recognition of its ongoing support of the Kansas Operation Lifesaver program and rail safety.
The Governor of Kansas proclaimed May 5-11, 2013, as Operation Lifesaver Days in Kansas. In a ceremonial event, the governor signs three copies of the proclamation and draws statewide attention to railroad safety day and International Level (Grade) Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD). This year, Operation Lifesaver shared a framed print with BNSF in recognition for its continued support.
BNSF has been named a 2013 Best Diversity Company by the readers of Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology for the seventh consecutive year.
