According to the American Cancer Society, when breast cancer is detected early, and is in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 100%. Recently, the Bergenfield Action Team participated in the "Making Strides of Ridgefield Park Walk," dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support breast cancer research.
Bergenfield Action Team Captains encouraged and inspired 50 of their peers and faculty members to participate in the walk. Together, they raised $600 for the American Cancer Society.
More than 1,300 participants laced-up their running shoes for the 10th annual MK5K in Addison, Texas to benefit The Mary Kay Foundation and their mission to eliminate cancers affecting women and end domestic violence. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this event was the perfect way to give back to these two worthy causes.
