HOUSTON, Feb. 21, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Girls in elementary schools in Houston’s Alief Independent School District (ISD) will now have more opportunities to access afterschool programming that will expand their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and career opportunities, thanks to a new partnership between CITGO Petroleum Corporation and the nonprofit organization Girlstart, which is part of the CITGO STEM Talent Pipeline initiative. CITGO is providing support for programming for elementary school girls in the Alief ISD to boost their interest in STEM careers.
LEMONT, Ill., February 22, 2017 /3BL Media/ ― The CITGO Lemont Refinery recently awarded Lemont High School a grant for the purchase of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). The ROV will be utilized for research within the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area (HQRA) as a part of regular classroom instruction.
In partnership with The Conservation Foundation, the HQRA restoration project is designed to boost ecological conservation and restoration. In addition, an educational component has been incorporated and includes the teachers and students at Lemont High School.

During the summit, more than 350 contractor foremen and supervisors took part in three separate interactive workshops. The workshops included Leadership Skills; Communication and Perception; as well as Power and Danger of Water and Vacuum. The keynote speaker for the seminar was Brad Livingston who survived two explosions at Colorado Interstate Gas that resulted from a welding mishap on the job.
More than 100 teachers receive STEM-related prizes to benefit their classrooms and schools

Inaugural Event Raises More Than $15,200 to Support the Muscular Dystrophy Association
