Domtar joined forces with First Book and Classroom Central for the third annual Truck of Books event. The two-day literacy promotion offered 40,000 free books for teachers to share with students in Charlotte, North Carolina, including nearby York County, South Carolina.
In the months following 9/11, Karen Calder searched for a way to better serve her community. One day, she read a feasibility study about a new project called Classroom Central, a proposed nonprofit aimed at providing school supplies to children living in poverty. The study moved her to tears.

Grant allows for expansion of classroom supply delivery programs
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 12, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Classroom Central has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the James M. Cox Foundation to help provide free school supplies to students living in poverty. The funds will allow Classroom Central to reach more students in need via the Classroom Up and Mobile Free Store programs.
