The Cormack Family Community Center and Youth Center Will Benefit Nearly 12,000 Children and Youth

The grocery store tour is part of a 12-week program, Healthy for Life, by Aramark and the AHA, devoted to teaching simple strategies for families in underserved communities to change their eating behaviors and lead healthier lifestyles.

On the tour, the dietitian taught participants tips for navigating the grocery store and shopping smarter, including planning meals in advance, always having a list and budget before going into the store, and buying items in bulk to freeze for future meal planning.

At Mary's Center in Washington D.C. volunteers taught the importance of eating healthy by leading cooking demonstrations and highlighting affordable meals during Aramark Building Community Day Sept. 17.
Chefs provided samples of healthy food and information about nutrition, while other volunteers transformed the outdoor patio into a space the community can now enjoy meals together.
Susan Dreyfus, president and CEO of the Alliance, said today that one of the many highlights of the Alliance National Conference this week was seeing her friend Dr. Anselmo Villarreal, president and CEO of La Casa de Esperanza, Inc. of her home city of Waukesha, Wisconsin, receive the 2014 Peter B.
