On Monday, May 22, 21st Century Fox and European professional cycling team, Team Sky, joined forces to give away 100 free bicycles to children from the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood, Los Angeles. Sponsored by 21CF and having just completed the 2017 Amgen Tour of California race, Team Sky spent the afternoon teaching kids how to use their new bikes on an outdoor cycling confidence course, and helped them decorate their new helmets and use their new locks.

With Chris Froome's record-breaking win at the final stage of the Tour de France on July 24, 21st Century Fox-sponsored Team Sky once again delivered on its reputation as the U.K.'s premier professional cycling team. Froome, who led his nearest competitor, Peter Sagan, by four minutes and five seconds, became the first Briton in history to win the race three times, and he took the opportunity during his acceptance speech to emphasize the teamwork for which Team Sky is so well known.
At Republic Services’ Contra Costa, CA division, several employees biked to work, including collection truck drivers German Marin, Jose Pena, and Pedro Vazquez, in honor of Bike to Work Day. The distance employees traveled ranged from five miles to 17 miles one way.
“I bike to work because I love the exercise, especially since drivers’ jobs are becoming more and more automated and don’t involve as much physical activity as they used to,” said Jose Pena, collection truck driver for Republic Services.
100 CBRE employees, sponsors, clients, suppliers, family and friends faced a cycling challenge through the undulating hills of France, finishing on the Italian Riviera. The 650km ride, which started June 5, began in the medieval castle town of Carcassonne before finishing on the Mediterranean coast in San Remo on June 9. A number of significant climbs were involved on the route to the beach in San Remo, notably the 3,000 m climb on the third day of cycling between Carpentras and Digne les Bains.
As Team Sky returned to the U.S. for the 2016 Amgen Tour of California, the team and its sponsor 21st Century Fox donated bikes, helmets, Team Sky shirts and more to the young members of the South Bay Boys & Girls Clubs in Los Angeles. The pro cyclists also spent the afternoon of May 11 guiding the kids from South Bay through a cycling confidence course, helping them get comfortable riding and giving them the tools they need to stay active and healthy.
