NEW YORK, June 23, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Today, The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) and Lightbox, a multi-platform media company focused on creating high quality non-fiction programming for film, television and digital platforms, announced they will collaborate on a new initiative to foster diversity in the feature documentary arena.
If you have been watching Bloomberg TV recently, you may have noticed more women appearing on the network. Mr Grant Coombe was instrumental in effecting that change. In six months, the 43-year-old sales manager of Bloomberg LP Singapore increased women's presence by 97 per cent in a Women's Voices movement. The head of Bloomberg's global and Asia-Pacific key accounts is an advocate for the media to represent a diversity of voices.
The awards were entered by 1,250 individuals were judged by a panel of 33 independent judges. Over 35,000 public votes were received for the 200 shortlisted nominees.
Claire Meier is a Senior Analyst in Fixed Income at Northern Trust Asset Management, responsible for global sovereign and agency research. She also plays a key role in asset allocation decisions working closely with the chief strategist and chief economist.
Over the past few years, the trans* agenda has really made its way to the fore. Of all the LGBT+ communities it has historically been the least discussed and understood, and even as recently as 5 years ago, references to binary and non-binary gender identities were unheard of. However the rise in inclusion within popular culture has really helped increase awareness of the trans* community and the challenges it can face.
Asset owners play an important role in advocating for diverse and inclusive workplaces at service providers and the companies they invest in, Bloomberg’s global head of diversity and inclusion, Erika Irish Brown, says.
“Everyone is in search of alpha,” Irish Brown says. “What information are investors leveraging to find that alpha? A lot of big pension funds put out [requests for proposals]. What questions are they asking? Are they asking diversity questions?”
