Aflac is investing in smart environmental solutions that contribute to a sustainable future. Aflac has recently expanded its solar array with an installation at the Paul S. Amos campus. The expansion is expected to lower Aflac’s greenhouse gas emissions in Columbus, Ga., by more than 10%.
To reduce our carbon footprint, we installed a 1.3-megawatt solar array at our largest campus in Columbus, Ga.

On October 15-18, more than 650 EHS&S leaders will come together in Toronto to share their latest strategies at NAEM’s annual Forum, an event designed to illuminate the path forward for the business community.
NAEM is the National Association for Environment, Health and Safety and Sustainability Management.
This year, NAEM redesigned its EHS Operational Excellence conference to emphasize how companies are integrating EHS into business operations. Lissa Aquino, Corporate Compliance Assurance Manager at Stepan Co. and a member of the conference planning committee, shared insights about the changing role of EHS within companies and what to expect at the conference.
As a kid, Scott Fletcher was the go-to guy to identify whatever strange-looking critters had appeared in his neighbors’ yards. When his father, a geology professor, took him and his brothers out for weekend fossil hunts in central Pennsylvania, Fletcher went searching for insects while the other two checked out the rocks. His father helped him assemble a sort of homemade natural history museum in the basement. He kept salamanders in a crate inside the house — until the smell overwhelmed his family and his dad shut-it down.
