Consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies often find themselves boxed in by customer demand. On one hand, more shoppers say they want to purchase more sustainable products, but many are not willing to pay a premium. And although most consumers still base their purchases largely on price and performance, the trends are clear: Environmental sustainability is expected. This applies to not only products, but also packaging.
Small landowners are the unsung heroes of the U.S. forest industry. We often think of public forests as the key source of the U.S. wood supply, but in fact, that resource only amounts to about a quarter of the total acreage that is harvested for wood products in the U.S. The rest comprises stock supplied by landowners that have dedicated their acreages to maintaining U.S. forest growth and supply.
Customers no longer view sustainable building materials as a specialty option. Rather, for many builders and homeowners, they’ve become mandatory. With a growing focus on environmentally-driven solutions that reduce the carbon footprint, protect ecosystems, and support workers and communities, 84 Lumber is reinventing its inventories to compete at the highest level.
Tetra Pak reached a significant milestone in early 2016, with the total number of FSC™-labelled packages delivered passing the 200 billion mark. The first Tetra Pak package to be labelled as made from Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™)-certified paperboard – meaning that it comes from FSC-certified and controlled sources and is traceable back to its origins – was delivered in 2007.

Leader in North American certified paper production supports annual celebration
On September 30th, 2016, Domtar sponsored FSC Friday, the annual event designed by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) to raise awareness about responsible forest management.
For over 20 years, FSC has worked to take care of forests and the people, plants, and animal species that depend on them. The FSC label gives assurance that wood, paper, and other forest products have been responsibly sourced from well-managed forests and/or recycled materials. FSC Friday is about sharing and promoting that message, so that our forests can remain forests for generations to come.
