When it comes to helping employees who have decided to adopt a child, nobody beats NVIDIA.
The California-based artificial intelligence company that offers employees up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave and assists employees financially with the costs of adoption, was named the most adoption-friendly employer in America last week by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (DTFA).
Every child deserves a safe, loving and permanent family. That is the simple, yet profound motivation behind National Adoption Month. Celebrated across North America each November, this special month of awareness building helps to increase the number of families considering adoption and celebrates the joys of creating families through foster care adoption.

It was a sad time. My wife and I had tried to add to our family without success. It wasn’t an immediate decision, but we eventually decided to pursue adoption. From that moment, everything in our life changed.
At last, we could see the light at the end of a tunnel. We went through background checks, home study, filled out a million forms, created an adoption profile and waited to be selected. Every day, we’d jump at unexpected calls, and we’d be upset when the agency we were working with told us that we hadn’t yet been selected.

It all started with the “most epic and memorable game of UNO every played.” That’s when Jacquelynn and Kevin Patterson knew they had met their daughter, Haylee. And Haylee knew she had met her parents.
Haylee entered foster care when she was 11. She lived in eight different houses in two years. That’s when she met the Pattersons and knew immediately they were meant to be her family. Join the Circle of Support for youth like Haylee. Commit to a monthly gift, of any size, that will ensure more children are adopted into supportive, safe and loving homes.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is proud to work with the Adoption Exchange Association on I-CARE, the Initiative to Create Adoption Ready Employees. Thanks to The Chronicle of Social Change for shedding light on this exciting and critical program.
This was shared with the Dave Thomas Foundation by Jesus Paniagua. Jesus was 7 years old when he and his five brothers were adopted by Yolonda, a single mother who made them finally feel at home. Today Jesus is 27 and honoring his late mother by sharing his story.
