From 5-7 p.m., guests can enjoy Hauser’s fine wine, sample appetizers from Evolution Catering, tour the winery, and see a service dog demonstration by one of SSD’s skilled demonstration dogs. Hauser Estate Winery will also be hosting live music from 7-10 p.m.

Clay Buchholz of the Boston Red Sox Rocks Out to Raise Funds for Children


Clay Buchholz usually throws strikes to benefit the Red Sox, but on July 7 the two-time All-Star will try rolling them to benefit a host of children’s charities his foundation supports.

The 4th Annual Buchholz Bowl and Benefit Bash is being held to fund the Clay Buchholz Foundation, which he founded with his wife, Lindsay, in March 2013.

The Clay Buchholz Foundation was created to provide health, educational and sports opportunities to improve the lives of children in need and provides resources to support existing nonprofit organizations.

This year’s fundraiser will feature actress and activist Kathy Najimy. 

George Springer of the Houston Astros Speaks Up for Children Who Stutter


George Springer, outfielder for the Houston Astros, gave participants of his second annual bowling tournament plenty to talk about by raising awareness and money for children who stutter.

Springer, who has struggled with stuttering since he was a child, joined the Stuttering Association for the Young (SAY) as a spokesperson.

“Some people have blue eyes, some have blonde hair, and some people stutter,” Springer said on “I’ve never let it hold me back and with SAY, I want to help kids who stutter build the confidence they need to pursue their dreams.”

NJ Action Team Captains Raise Funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society


BERGENFIELD, NJ—Action Team Captains from Bergenfield High School raised more than $1,000 with their annual “Pennies for Patients” fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The three-week-long campaign consisting of pizza and doughnut sales drew big-time support from the school’s faculty and student body.

Three Action Team Captains -- Sarah Hartwig, Zainab Ali and Hala Eshmaway -- also collected additional donations during their community’s weekly farmer’s market.

Action Team Captains From H-B Woodlawn Hold Fundraiser to Benefit Local Charitable Groups


ARLINGTON, Va.—Action Team Captains from H-B Woodlawn High School took advantage of “Pi-day” to hold a quick fundraiser that raised $150 in 45 minutes for local Virginia and DC area non-profits and rewarded donations with delicious pies.

Celebrated each year around the world, on March 14th, “Pi,” the Greek letter “π” is the mathematical symbol used to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

The Jan. 14 event at Paris Club featured many comedy acts, including Chris Redd, Carl Michael Magic and Brody Stevens. Rizzo’s Cubs teammates also took the stage with improvisational actors from The Second City, a leader in improv-based sketch comedy.

Community Charities Win Players Trust Golf Tournament Again


LAS VEGAS – Charities doing great work in their communities here and around the world were the big winners of the 12th annual Players Trust golf tournament on Thursday (Jan. 14) when more than 50 current and former players competed for prizes and bragging rights at the beautiful and challenging Cascata course.

Rising young stars Bryce Harper of the Nationals and Kris Bryant, who both live in Las Vegas, co-hosted the fund-raising event to benefit charitable organizations selected by the players, including Las Vegas area nonprofits selected by Bryant and Harper.
