Building on the success of the GRI Guidelines, which to date have been used by over 5,000 organizations across more than 90 countries, the new governance structure recognizes the importance of standard-setting being a public interest activity. It is designed to further strengthen the independence of GRI’s standard-setting activities, whilst upholding the organization’s unique global multi-stakeholder principle.
