Alcohol responsibility and environmental initiatives featured as part of commitment to sustainability initiatives worldwide
HAMILTON, Bermuda, September 26, 2017 /3BL Media/ – Bacardi is actively engaged in global responsible drinking initiatives, reaching more than one million underage individuals with underage drinking prevention education programs, and cut its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity in half—more than a year earlier than its end of December 2017 target. These are just two of the many accomplishments detailed in the company’s 2017 Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report.
The Bacardi Bottling Corporation in Jacksonville, Fla., welcomes wildlife of all types on its 92-acre industrial site. Through its eco-conscious efforts to help pollinators thrive, the bottling plant works to fulfill its Good Spirited sustainability initiative of putting back at least as much as they take away. The campus’ animal-friendly conservation efforts include a monarch butterfly habitat, blue martin bird houses, and bat houses, with a plan of adding honeybee hives in the future.
The Bacardi Bottling Corporation in Jacksonville, Fla., shows how business and conservation can work together for the benefit of humans, animals, and the environment. Its Good Spirited programs for sustainability have led to a 35-ton reduction of landfill discards and cutting down carbon emissions by 90%. The plant’s ongoing wildlife efforts include a pollinator garden, increasing its size by 22 acres with native plants, and erecting bat houses.

In partnership with American Forests and with support from the Idaho State Liquor Board, more than 93,000 trees have been planted in in Idaho and other areas across the United States since the annual campaign began in 2014.
