Electrical resistance heating is most easily identified as the same technology that produces warm forced air in a common hair blow-dryer, or the red-hot elements in a toaster. When electrical elements are placed in a heating appliance (such as a water-heater) or ductwork, then we have an electrical resistance heater. The coefficient of performance (COP) for electrical resistance heating is 1.0 COP.  That is the same as saying that electrical resistance is 100% efficient.

And while vinyl is still king, fiber cement is making inroads, and other cladding options are experiencing a resurgence. Wood, which inspires so many of the alternatives, makes up but a small fraction of the cladding of new homes.
