The reduction in energy use resulting from the replacement, coupled with energy generated from the 10,000 square-foot solar array installed on its headquarters as part of Phase I, will allow Global Links to produce 100% of its own energy needs, with the goal of achieving Net Zero.

The garden and path are located on the hospital’s third-floor terrace, which is the largest outdoor pedestrian space at the hospital.

HOUSTON, May 4, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Today, Rice University’s gardening community celebrates a solar upgrade and improvements at the Betty and Jacob Friedman Holistic Garden, a place where anyone can learn how to improve their quality of life and neighborhoods through gardening. Green Mountain Energy Sun Club, a program created by renewable electricity provider Green Mountain Energy to advance sustainability in the community, awarded a $77,000 sustainability grant to make the garden self-powered with an on-site solar array, greenhouse, rainwater harvesting and composting systems.
The solar-powered container farm will provide fresh produce to the school’s cafeteria and hands-on education for students through a newly formed urban farming elective class.
