Launches “KOMBIT: The Cooperative” documentary chronicling emergence of self-sustaining agroforestry model creating greener future for Haiti
STRATHAM, N.H., October 6, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Global outdoor lifestyle brand Timberland today released “KOMBIT: The Cooperative,” a documentary film chronicling a five-year project to reforest Haiti in partnership with the Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA), a Haitian nonprofit farmer cooperative dedicated to feeding and reforesting the country.
On Saturday, August 29, STAR India's flagship channel Star Plus will air Girl Rising, an acclaimed documentary from Academy Award nominee Richard E. Robbins that raises awareness of gender inequality and advocates for women's empowerment. The film is the centerpiece of the Girl Rising campaign, which promotes women's rights around the world, and this broadcast will be the first time the film has been shown in India.
From April 27 through May 1, the Major League Baseball Players Trust is joining forces with The Global Poverty Project’s Live Below the Line campaign to raise awareness and funds for the more than 1.2 billion people around the world living in extreme poverty (Learn more here.).
Through the Players Trust, Major Leaguers provide funding to support the work of several non-profits dedicated to helping improve the lives of people living below the poverty line. One such partner is Physicians for Peace.
The Players Trust is joining Global Citizen’s Live Below the Line fundraising and awareness campaign in 2015 to help improve living conditions for the 1.2 billion impoverished people around the world.
The Live Below the Line campaign challeges people across the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom to feed themselves with just $1.50 a day – the equivalent of the international Extreme Poverty Line – so they can better understand the lack of choice and opportunity faced by people living in poverty.
Local sourcing is at the heart of HEINEKEN’s “Brewing a Better Future” sustainability strategy. In Haiti, HEINEKEN has committed to purchase locally sourced sorghum, improving the lives of over 18,000 farmers under the SMASH project.
