H&M is ranked the “Most sustainable fashion retailer in the Netherlands” by the Dutch consumer organisation Rank a Brand and is awarded with its “Fashion chain Award 2013”. Out of 27 fashion retailers in the Netherlands H&M is number one. The award gives H&M the predicate ‘well on the way in sustainability’.

Hollywood glamour comes to H&M this spring with Conscious Exclusive – a partywear collection made from more sustainable materials. The collection features clothing and accessories for both men and women, and is part of H&M’s Conscious work to offer more sustainable fashion. Materials used in the collection include organic cotton, recycled polyester, recycled polyamide and Tencel. The Conscious Exclusive collection will be available in around 140 stores worldwide as well as online from April 4, 2013.

H&M and the World Wildlife Fund have announced a three-year global partnership to innovate a new H&M corporate water strategy. The initiative will include conservation throughout the company’s whole supply chain as well as its manufacturing facilities. Under the plan, H&M designers and buyers will receive training in the water impacts of raw material production as well as wet processes for different styles, to promote more sustainable choices.

H&M First Fashion Company to Launch Global Clothes Collecting Initiative

From February 2013, customers will be able to hand in used garments in H&M stores in all 48 markets. Sustainability is an important part of H&M’s offering, and H&M strives to reduce the environmental impact of clothes throughout their lifecycle.

H&M is extending its All for Children collaboration with UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, to include Bangladesh. In total H&M will contribute USD 7.99 million to the project, which is H&M’s biggest donation to community investment to date. All for Children is the name that H&M gives to the long-term projects that H&M supports to promote education and better health for children in countries where H&M operates. The project in Bangladesh will run from 2012 to 2017.
