Whenever there is a mega-disaster, like the recent category 4 hurricane Laura that hit the gulf coast of the U.S., FedEx reaches out to the disaster relief organizations we support year round to see if they may have a special need where FedEx can help.
While we focus on delivering humanitarian aid – to help people impacted by the disaster – we also know that many animals are often displaced and in need of shelter and care. These animals include people’s pets…our furry friends.
Up to $2.5 million in cash and product committed to support local response organizations in southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas
BENTONVILLE, Ark. September 1, 2020 /3BL Media/ – With the catastrophic storm, flooding and power outages affecting southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas, Walmart, Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation are committing up to $2.5 million in cash and in-kind product donations to organizations leading response and recovery efforts.
Hurricane Laura made landfall in Texas and Louisiana last week, causing large amounts of damage and widespread power outages throughout the region.
The situation is still very fluid as first responders and utilities assess the damage caused by the storm. Our teams are working closely with authorities to gain safe access to impacted areas and working around the clock to refuel backup generators and deploying additional backup power where needed to make sure our customers stay connected while they recover from the impacts of this storm.
