Rising 18 stories above the fields in rural Indiana, Duke Energy’s Edwardsport power plant is a technological marvel and among the cleanest coal-fired power plants in the world.

Edwardsport Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) station in Knox County, Ind., produced a record 3.9 million megawatt-hours of energy in 2017, a 28 percent improvement over its previous record.

The company is contributing $600,000 for low-income customer energy assistance through its Helping Hand program.

In addition, Duke Energy Indiana customers and employees have contributed about $96,000 to date for the program, raising this year's total to almost $700,000.

Peregrine falcons may not be on the endangered species list any more, but they’ve got special friends in Indiana.

After three falcon chicks were born on a perch at Duke Energy’s Gallagher Station smoke stack B recently, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) retrieved them for banding and a naming ceremony.

John Castrale, who works with DNR, showed them off to more than 50 students at Gallagher Station’s training center in New Albany, Ind., northwest of Louisville.
