Like many of you, I spent much of my adult life on active duty, and still have a special place in my heart for members of our military. This Memorial Day, and each and every day, we pay tribute to all the active duty service members, the veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice.
This week I had the privilege of attending an event at the White House where the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, and John Chambers, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, unveiled a new program to give returning military service members a fast track to the training and certifications needed for high-demand IT jobs.

Healthcare spending was up by 4.6 percent in 2011, according to a new report by the Health Care Cost Institute. That’s higher than the 3.8 percent increase reported for 2010. The report is based on claims data of more than 40 million insured, about 25 percent of all those with employer-sponsored health insurance, ESI. 2011 healthcare spending for people with ESI averaged $4,547 per person for the year.
