AEG’s LA Kings, LA Galaxy, Eisbären Berlin, Ontario Reign, Amgen Tour of California and AEG Rugby to commit to UN Sports for Climate Action Framework; Become first teams in respective leagues to commit to UN Sports for Climate Action Framework
LOS ANGELES, May 8, 2019 /3BL Media/ – AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, today announced its pledge to support the United Nation’s (UN) Sports for Climate Action Framework (Framework).
Many companies have already focused their carbon-reduction plans on the SBTi’s former criteria aligned with a 2-degree scenario and may have to scramble to meet the new goal. But several are already ahead of the game and have certified their targets through SBTi’s new standard.
The global sports and entertainment company AEG is one of those in the vanguard—and it’s raising the bar for the industry.
AEG, the leading sports and live entertainment company in the world, partnered with Peace Over Violence to further sexual assault awareness for the 20th Annual Denim Day on April 24, 2019.
In addition to encouraging its employees to wear denim to raise awareness about the campaign, AEG agreed to match its employees’ donations to Peace Over Violence, which coupled with the company’s initial pledge, has resulted in an approaching total of $10,000.
AEG’s LA Kings recently partnered with SoCalGas to build four playhouses to benefit Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles (Habitat LA) at L.A. LIVE on Friday, March 29. Employee volunteers from both organizations constructed and painted the fully functional playhouses which will be donated to Habitat LA partner families and ReStores, in addition to other local non-profit organizations that benefit children.
AEG’s LA Kings welcomed more than 60 students from Balboa Elementary School in Glendale, Calif. to Toyota Sports Center on February 19, 2019, to learn the science of hockey through the LA Kings G.O.A.L.S. Program in partnership with Blue Shield of California.
The students, who had previously participated in the Future Goals STEM program module, which uses Science Technology Engineering and Math concepts to Kings hockey, applied their learning on the ice at the team’s training facility with Kings staff.
The LA Kings spent the afternoon at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) visiting patients and families alongside the LA Kings Ice Crew and team mascot Bailey on January 9, 2019.
The entire Kings roster spent the afternoon visiting patients’ rooms, signing autographs, taking photos, leading arts and crafts and playing ball hockey. The team visit was in conjunction with the Kings’ longstanding relationship with CHLA.
The LA Kings partnered with the USO to host a dinner and Watch Party at Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center for more than 350 Marines in Corps Communications Electronic School on December 18, 2018.
