When the Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers Powered by Clean the World began operations, we wanted to provide immediate relief and resources to those in need as part of our commitment to combatting homelessness. The Fresh Start Mobile Showers travel across the Las Vegas Valley, working together with several homeless services providers, offering showers five days a week.
In 2014, Guo Meiling started her career at Marina Bay Sands as an intern with a scholarship through Republic Polytechnic. As she studied Restaurant and Culinary Operations, she was eager to pursue a cross-training opportunity with the property’s Food & Beverage teams.
The Venetian Resort Las Vegas was recognized for their community service through Sands Cares, the company’s corporate giving and Team Member engagement program, at the 2018 Governor’s Points of Light Awards in October. Sands Cares integrates the company’s philanthropic work worldwide including financial giving, Team Member volunteerism, and in-kind support while making an impact in the areas we care about most: our people, planet, and communities.
Benji Bach, a seven-year-old second grader at American Heritage Academy in Las Vegas, has been on a quest to save the environment by reducing the use of plastic shopping bags after reading about plastic bags floating in the ocean and how they can harm sea life. Benji decided to take action and sent a letter to The Venetian Resort asking for assistance with his efforts to seek help from his classmates to eliminate their use of plastic bags.

Since 2015, Las Vegas Sands has made addressing the homelessness issue in its corporate headquarters its primary issue. We have a core focus on youth homelessness, along with targeted initiatives that can strongly impact all people experiencing homelessness in our community. Our commitment involves a three-pronged strategy that leverages our position as a major business leader to be a catalyst for change: delivering immediate relief, driving long-term problem-solving, and advocating for change.
Sands ECO360, the company’s global sustainability strategy, reflects its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint on the planet. Marina Bay Sands held a weeklong sustainability electronic waste or "e-waste" recycling roadshow in September for Team Members.
More than 500 volunteers in Las Vegas joined Las Vegas Sands and social enterprises Clean the World and the American Red Cross to build 35,000 hygiene and comfort kits to support populations in need. The large community volunteer effort was in part with the company’s global annual kit build and its active approach on community preparedness. Through Sands Cares, LVS’ global corporate giving and Team Member engagement program, the company is committed to making the communities where they operate a better place to live and providing aid during times of disaster and emergencies.

Las Vegas Sands takes leadership role in implementing a plan to end youth homelessness
Ron Reese is the senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs at Las Vegas Sands, joining the global Integrated Resort developer in 2003. In his role, Reese drives the overall corporate communications platform and directs corporate affairs initiatives that bring awareness to the company’s business and corporate citizenship achievements, as well as support the company’s global expansion plans.
