On September 8, 2016, 100 students from Kipp Central City Primary, an elementary school in New Orleans, enjoyed a day of fun aboard the Carnival Triumph for the first-ever “Read & Rise” literacy day to celebrate their reading achievements as winners of the school’s summer reading challenge.

Pizza Hut: The Literacy Project represents an expanded global commitment to literacy and reading. While one in five Americans have participated in the BOOK IT! literacy program, there are communities locally in the U.S. and all over the world that still need help. As a result, Pizza Hut has partnered with First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise organization representing the largest network of educators serving kids in need, to implement a year-round fundraising effort.
September 8, 2016, marked a historical day in the history of the largest pizza company in the world, Pizza Hut. On that day, Pizza Hut announced a commitment to expand on its 30+ year commitment to BOOK IT! and unlock the potential of 100 million people around the world over the next 10 years through literacy and reading.
Nonprofit Gives Half Million New Books to Children in Connecticut and Massachusetts
EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass., July 6, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Link to Libraries, Inc., which has donated a half million new books to children in New England, just booked a donation of its own – a $15,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation.
An all-volunteer nonprofit with no paid staff, Link to Libraries serves 25,000 children in 400 sites in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Newman’s Own Foundation grant will fund the purchase and distribution of thousands of books in the coming months.
‘Big Bike and Book Giveaway Day’ recognizes academic performance; encourages students to read and ride this summer

FCA US LLC, a company better known for helping to put the Motor City on wheels, shifted gears on June 11 and rolled out hundreds of shiny, new bicycles and stacks of books for students in Detroit.
During the second annual “Big Bike and Book Giveaway Day” held at Palmer Park on the city’s west side, FCA US presented new bikes and books to 350 elementary, middle and high school students who have demonstrated improved academic performance, school attendance and good citizenship.
Mobile literacy program visited seven schools in the Houston area to kick off tour
