Humanitas Prize Recognizes Fox Projects for Powerful Social Messaging

For 40 years, the organization Humanitas has awarded its Humanitas Prize to film and television writers whose works demonstrate effective social messaging and powerful insights into human life. The winners of the 2014 Humanitas Prize were announced at a luncheon in Los Angeles on Friday, and three of the ten projects honored were Fox productions.

In the past four years RSF has been experimenting with a new model of giving called Shared Gifting. Shared Gifting aims to transform the power dynamics in philanthropy by giving the decision making authority for grant funds to the non-profits who will receive them.

Previously RSF has facilitated this process with organizations focused on sustainable food and agriculture. However, in January of 2015 we will be hosting the first Shared Gifting circle focused on the Arts!

Fox Film & TV Writers are Finalists for Humanitas Prize

Each year, the HUMANITAS Prize is awarded to film and television writers whose projects explore the human experience in a way that both entertains and enlightens, and this year, eight Fox writers are among the thirty-one finalists across eight categories. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a national nonprofit providing after-school programs and summer camps for young people of all ages, hosted its annual Great Futures Gala in Los Angeles on November 5th, honoring FOX Sports with the Champion of Youth Award. FOX Sports announcers Joe Buck and Erin Andrews emceed the event, and Eric Shanks (left), President, COO, and Executive Producer of FOX Sports, accepted the award from BGCA Board member Michael Tennenbaum (right).
