LAS VEGAS, September 5, 2018 /3BL Media/ – The MGM Resorts Foundation will accept nonprofit grant applications through its online portal until September 28, 2018. Funding will be awarded to local nonprofit agencies that provide services focused on strengthening neighborhoods, strengthening children and providing strength in difficult times. 

As a result of the contributions made by MGM Resorts International employees, The MGM Resorts Foundation will award qualifying agencies in Southern Nevada, Michigan, Mississippi and Maryland.

Opening the 2017 Women’s Leadership Conference, the young voices of the Musicology Academy blew the roof off the MGM Grand. They sang of struggle and triumph, prevailing themes of the testimony given by speakers and attendees of the two-day event. MGM Resorts International denounced “hate mongers and white supremacists” in a letter to employees Friday, offering to match their donations to civil rights groups including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

“You have my commitment that we will vigorously and zealously continue to reject hate speech and hate-based actions in any form,” Chief Executive Officer Jim Murren wrote, telling workers he felt compelled to speak after the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the terrorist attack in Barcelona this week.

Research shows that companies with board-driven sustainability initiatives have a competitive advantage. For instance, a 2014 report released by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) found that companies that strategically reduced their carbon footprints had 21 percent stronger dividends than those that didn’t.
